Introduction: Kasandra Tworzyanski
Hi everyone! My name is Kasandra Tworzyanski, and I am a fourth-year student at the University of Toronto. I am studying Physical and Environmental Geography, with minors in GIS and Statistics. I am passionate about the environment, health, and equitable access. My interests lie in identifying areas that lack access to essential services, whether it be healthcare or other critical resources. Additionally, I am deeply interested in green spaces and the natural environment, how they can be shaped by urban development and environmental changes, and how these spaces are distributed.
Some of my past and current research projects, which focus on utilizing GIS to analyze critical issues, include an assessment of current protected areas in Canada, and proposing potential expansions based on multiple criteria. I have recently completed a project examining how access for Toronto residents will change with the implementation of the new Ontario Line for the TTC. Additionally, I am working on a pilot project analyzing the built and natural environment of schoolyards and school streets, determining how they may be thriving or lacking in terms of critical health and environmental variables.
Outside of my studies, you can usually find me spending time outdoors, running long distances, discovering new music, cooking, or checking off movies from my growing watchlist.
I am looking forward to sharing more about my work this year and hearing from other student associates!
