Introduction: Simon Hunter
Hello everyone,
My name is Simon Hunter, and I’m thrilled to introduce myself as a University of Toronto student pursuing a diverse and interdisciplinary academic path. I’m majoring in Geographic Information Systems (GIS), Communication, Culture, Information, and Technology (CCIT), and Computer Science. This combination fuels my passion for exploring how spatial data, technology, and communication converge to tackle real-world challenges.
My dedication to GIS is reflected in my ongoing research projects. One of my main focuses is analyzing the sinking rates of small island nations and understanding their geopolitical impact. These projects embody my commitment to leveraging spatial data to address pressing global issues such as climate change and its socio-economic ripple effects.
Beyond academics, I bring a creative rhythm to my life through my passion for music. I enjoy playing the drums and play for Mississauga Blues rugby club.
I’m excited to connect with this vibrant community, exchange ideas, and collaborate on innovative projects. Joining the Esri Canada GIS Center of Excellence is a step forward in expanding my GIS expertise, meeting like-minded peers, and contributing to meaningful research initiatives.
Looking forward to engaging with all of you!
Best regards,
Simon Hunter
