Hi, I’m Nicholas Chen! I’m a fourth-year student at Western University Ontario, currently working towards a BA in Geography and Environment, specializing in Commercial Aviation Management. I’m also completing a certificate in Geographic Information Science (GIS). My studies reflect my passion for understanding how spatial analysis and aviation intersect, and I’m excited about using GIS to solve real-world challenges. Whether it’s mapping complex systems or exploring innovative solutions in transportation and the environment, I’m driven to combine technology and geography to make a meaningful impact.

Alongside my studies, I’m currently leading research focused on electric vehicle (EV) infrastructure accessibility in the City of Vancouver. Using GIS and spatial analysis techniques, my project examines how traffic conditions, travel times, and population distribution affect residents’ access to public charging stations. By integrating traffic-enabled network analysis, service area modelling, and demographic data at the dissemination area level, I aim to evaluate the equity and efficiency of Vancouver’s charging network. This research for my undergraduate thesis not only highlights spatial disparities in EV access but also contributes to broader sustainability and transportation planning goals, helping inform data-driven decisions for a more accessible and environmentally resilient urban future.
